Mandatory digital post
All citizens over 15 years of age must have a digital postbox at borger.dk. With a digital postbox, you can send and receive post quickly, securely and in an environmentally friendly manner, to and from public sector authorities, e.g. your municipality.
Your regular email is not secure enough
Mail to and from public offices often contains personally sensitive information, like for example your CPR number. It is therefore necessary to send post securely – therefore, your private email address (e.g. from hotmail, gmail, ofir.dk, etc.) cannot be used. Instead, you should use the digital postbox at borger.dk.
When you send and receive post using the digital postbox at borger.dk, the mail travels through a secure connection. This means that no-one who's unauthorized can gain access to your post, as it goes to and from your digital postbox.
The digital postbox is just as secure as a Netbank service, as it is only you who can log in, using your NemID.

Combined digital post and e-box
In your digital postbox you can also view post from e-box. You just need to accept seeing your post from private senders who send post to your e-box. In this way, you can combine your post from both public authorities and private businesses. With the postbox, you create an overview of your digital post, and you do not have to think about where you have stored your letters - and at the same time you remain free of paper, postage, and weighty ring-binders on the shelf.
